Marketing for App Vs Website: What’s the Difference?

What’s the difference between beautiful and sexy?

The other day, one of my gal pals came to me seeking advice. She was distraught because a guy she liked called her “sexy.”

For the most part, a woman/man who’s sexy, knows they’re sexy. They’re the main attraction at the bar – they command presence, which may have a lot to do with their physical characteristics, (like curves in the right places and muscular features).

In the digital space, apps are sexy. The best ones feature an Interactive Design (IxD), smooth animations that meld serif fonts with simple clean images, and exquisite User Interactive (UI) Designs. How you navigate, leaves you wanting to see more and do more.

A sexy app (drool)

You might want to take the sexy lady home with you, but the beautiful one is the one you want to hold down. Beauty goes beyond lust – a beautiful person has something of everything.

Sure, a put-together outfit or make-up may enhance your appearance, but they’re unnecessary for you to be or feel beautiful.

Great websites are beautiful because they push the boundaries of what is known to be possible on the web. Whether it’s the design aesthetic, usability, interactivity, sound design, or value that the site provides, a great website is a masterpiece, admired by all in its respective industry.

Because being sexy is different from being beautiful, your app and website are also different in many ways, especially when it comes to marketing them to your target audience.

Marketing An App

First, have a strong marketing strategy in place. There are over four million apps in existence, marketing just one won’t be easy.

  • Pay attention to App Store Optimization (ASO)

Focus on showing up within the top ten for relevant keywords on the app store. You could purchase a top ten spot, but if you don’t have a source of organic traffic, then that spot next to WhatsApp or Candy Crush won’t last.

Invest some time, money, and energy into directing your target to download your app with search ads and impressive SEO, particularly on social media.

  • Partner with influencers or brand ambassadors

You have the app, they have the people. Seek out influencers with followers who will benefit or find value from your app. If you have a gaming app, work with a popular gamer.

  • Partner with other apps

Nike Training Club worked together with Headspace to create the perfect app; it provides workout routines, monitors heart rate, calories burnt, etc., while also offering meditation and mindfulness programs. Perfection. (*Chef’s kiss*)

If your app can work with another, especially one that’s got more traction than yours, jump on it.

  • Cheat the system

Well…not really, but running a paid-to-free campaign will spike up interest and increase your download numbers. It’s simple; launch as a paid app, then after 3-5 days, make the app free. It will list as ‘newly free’ by the popular app directories and gain word of mouth popularity and referrals. Note that you cannot change a free app to a paid app on Google.

  • Make it sexy!

Sex sells, and if your app doesn’t look good or work seamlessly, then you’re setting yourself up for bad reviews, which are hard to bounce back from. Remember, there are over four million apps out there, make yours glorious!

Marketing a Website

Again, I cannot stress enough the importance of having a strong marketing strategy in place.

If you need a beautiful website that’s targeted, tested, and optimised to the specific psychographics of your target market, then get in touch with us here. Once you have your beautiful website locked down, here are a few ways you can drive traffic to it:

  • Digital Ads

You can reach millions of potential viewers with social ad networks, SEM networks, and display ad networks, at such a low price it’s mind-blowing. The average cost per 1,000 views on Instagram for a still ad costs around $5! Just be sure to zero in on your target audience.

  • Integrate an opt-in-form

Build a mailing list to retain your audience and to foster genuine relationships with the viewers of your website. You can send bulk email for free, or check out our email marketing services for an in-depth look at how to grow your subscribers. Don’t worry, either way, your list will grow.

  • Use Social Media

You can leverage your existing social accounts to promote individual web pages or hire an influencer to promote the services or products on offer on your website.

  • Content is everything!

The first time your audience is browsing through your website, they’re not only looking at the beautiful pages but probing for value. They are less likely to return if they can’t find any value on your website. So fill your website with content your viewers will love like articles and offers.

Conclusion

After spending about 7 minutes reading through this article, what’s your main takeaway? Are you wondering if you’re beautiful or sexy, or if your app and website are beautiful and sexy? What’s important is that you need to build an app or website to make your viewers stay logged on for some time and to come back for more.
